Strange boat

Hi Arthur have a look at another post on this thread gives site of a charter business which has one, think its www.desolationsoundyachtcharters.com in British Columbia. They are asking for 6days and 6 nights just $4200 US dollars.

Thought that was quite cheap. AND they also include salt & pepper, toilet paper & matches. I'm not joking have a look. Clive

Clive - that's the one, or one of them. B-liner then made a 4788 which looks similar. $4200 does seem cheap, even w/toilet paper and matches. Even cheaper in sterling!!!
I think the pilot houss were both --88 designation and not
--50, which is a different design.

Helmed the 4588 tother day identical to one on that web site, my only real criticism was those awfull seperate trottle and gear controls, most arkward and IMHO unecessary. Otherwise well equipt with big boat feel, plenty for yer money in as 45 footers go.

The separate throttle and gear controls are the most common in the US on boats w/inboards. I've never used twin combined levers, so I can't comment. However, the US setup is great, especially for docking manoeuvres, once you get used to them.

each to his own, seems like two levers too many to me.

(gosh thats a lots of tooo's)

Probably all right if your in calm conditions and can use just idle revs, which is indeed the correct thing to do. But when its very very windy like the other day, problem is your in gear at tick over one engine forward one reverse, and you need to give it more throttle say on the reverse engine.
Then you quickly have to move said engine into forward, but have to remember to reduce revs to idle then reach for the lever to go into forward, then back to the lever if you need more throttle.

Whereas same senario: in reverse give it more throttle, need to go to forward same engine, well of course you have to return throttle to idle position en route to reverse, then control revs. And all using ONE lever.
