Strange attitude of yacht club to potential new members

Jaguar 25,

Thornham is a truly excellent boatyard for the winter, but maybe not so brilliant for summer moorings; Chichester Harbour Conservancy, + Wilsons' Boatyard & Hayling Yacht Co - both on Hayling Island - are relatively good value, but do ask about car and secure tender parking especially re Conservancy moorings !

Cheers Seajet,
Thornham have offered us a free swinging mooring for the summer, which perhaps suggests that it is not an ideal location but we will see. Hayling Yacht Co and Wilson's look to be well placed for getting out onto the Solent.

Jaguar 25,

the Thorney Channel is fine, but a touch tidally restricted; watch out for the old wooden stakes in the mud just to the East of the Channel !

The Channel itself is fine - if a bit tidal - and with luck you might see the resident Seals; expect we'll meet some time next year, sail number A119.

Seajet, Look forward to meeting you. My sail number is 1319 but it's easier to see Kittiwake on the spray dodgers.

The Thorney channel is a very pleasant and quiet part of the harbour, Although there are many more moorings than there used to be now the army have established themselves on the old airfield

As far as I know Thornham Marina's moorings are all located off the marina, in the bay above " the cuts" at the top of Prinsted channel.
That whole area is very shallow.

I have had a mooring below "the cuts" in Prinsted channel for many years.
