With the winds and flooding yesterday and today I was put on notice to ferry friends to the airport in the Range Rover today as most of the roads around here were flooded.

My wife has recently bought a Honda hybrid. So she gave her 10 year old Honda to my son For £5k He sold his upmarket Range Rover petrol for £3500. It used to cost a fortune in fuel but complied with ULeZ. The Honda he now has is now dearer to insure & I seem to recall road tax is higher

Yep, how to distinguish between end quotes, "Land Rover ....... 15"

...... and a 15" owner!😀
You are not allowed to say “Dwarf” anymore. It is only tall people like me that one can comment on height & people think it is OK. But “I have never. associated anyone to some well known cartoon characters in case I got head butted in the knee caps. I assume the forum bans that as well😳😳😳😳😳

Yes it shows the neighbours that you have pots of cash to spend on fuel as well as boats, (3 of them) and loads of aeroplanes. Mind you with a Russian speedboat & a load of drones I would keep well off the security services radar at the minute.
Have the authorities repossessed the speedboat yet? Or is it hid up the creek For a quick get away?

Thread drift .....

The fuel consumption of my 4.4 TDV8 is actually no worse than the Volvo XC70 2.4 I also own. In fact in terms of economy - because diesel here is cheaper than gasoline - the RR works out cheaper overall to run.

Neighbours ? Looking towards my house .... to left is the Owner of the largest Fishing Fleet in this area - he spent over 1 mill building his house / guest house / boat channel with hydraulic lift for his mobo. To right is a guy who used to be local manager of a company I was shareholder of - who branched out on his own ... he's spent more than 1.5 mill and still not completed his house / boat channel / other buildings. His 11.6m new mobo sits still plastic wrapped in Riga waiting transport to the channel.

As you see in the Google Earth attached - we have no need to 'brag'- we do own the largest single residential plots in the town. We are well knownb and respected here.

My Accounts manager who lives just short of 1km from me has a RR Evoque ....

Yes we seem to do well here.

My boats are a collection - in fact I had more before - but sold some. None are what you would term luxury / expensive boats.

Its interesting actually that the ex Soviet speedboat is being built even now in Lithuania ... they even take in old ones / derelicts and refurb them ...
Mine (I had two, but sold one later) were rescue jobs before they were scrapped for the aluminium .. yes aluminium - not alloy.

Don't know why you need to make such a post to be honest .... is it jealousy or just plain having a dig ?

Thread drift again ...

Yes you can always find cheap RR's .... the depreciation is massive on them after about the 5 - 10 year mark. This is mainly due to owners who fail to maintain properly the older ones. This then gives the margues a bad reputation.

I have been a LR person for many years having had Series 2 LR's and followed the marques over the years ... driven / used ... etc. One of the problems with older such as the very early RR's - P38's ... 2002 + L322's etc. - the owners have not carried proper LR servicing - as the cars are older - they think they can service at local garage and wonder why they then have problems.
The fact is if you buy a car that as new is in the high price arena ... such as a RR ... you must service it throughout its life no matter how old, the same as when new.
You cannot service a P38 ... L322 ... L405 etc as if its a Ford Escort .... its an expensive mistake. Once you make that mistake - the rectification of it really hits the wallet ...

My RR as delivered - German dealer had a 3rd party belt fitted .... shortly after delivery - I had knocking noises under the bonnet. The belt was only 2mm out of spec - but it had a) damaged the tensioners, b) alternator bearings. Local reputable respected garage I use for my Volvo strongly advised to take the RR to LR in Riga .... I even checked with the other services here in Ventspils - Toyota .. VW ... Renault etc. - they ALL said the same. LR Riga found the fault and fixed it ... no-one found it despite 3 trips to local services.

As to a 2002 year L322 ..... that is the very early 322 which was a stopgap model that suffered the BMW - FORD era mess .... a model that BMW had wanted to bin - but UK factory pushed to develop ... Rover then sold to Ford who then put their hands into .... the creation was a mess that took till the 2005+ models to sort out. JLR under Tata - took that mess and sorted it. Anyone looking to buy a L322 - please look at 2008 and younger ... and with LR service history - and the 4.4 TDV8 - which has the 8 speed box. The 3.0 and 3.6 have the problem 6 speed box and actually are less fuel efficient. The best of the L322 is well known to be the 2010 - 2012 models that were the facelift final versions before the L405 came on market.

OK back to stormy weather ....

you clearly do not have a sense of humour. With oligarch,s enormous Russian yachts being impounded world wide the thought that your small runabout might be a target seemed less proportionate.I also have followed you enough to note your interest in RC - like me- hence the drone quwip But you did not see the funny side. Preferring, instead , to let it go over your head
but to each his own and it would be a boring world if we all saw something humorous in the same things:):):):):):):):)

I did see that you were posting to be humorous ... but I let if fall on stony ground ... and took opportunity to reply in 'tongue in cheek' mode ... so you also are lacking in that dept !

In fact I have quite a large sense of humour ... which I play with often .. many who know me - have likened my SoH to that of Clarkson ...
