Stinkies\' wash problem

This afternoon I was floating in the Gulf of Mexico with my wife and son and was disturbed by the roar of two 'muscle boats' flying by at about 50mph. Not only did their wash make my hat wet, but my sandles which I had left at the water's edge also got wet. To cap it all, a few minutes later they roared past in the opposite direction and I was subjected to the same dreadful experience a second time. Needless to say, this thoughtless behaviour of two stinkies made me rather upset and ruined my otherwise idyllic afternoon. Should I report this unseemly behaviour to the US Coast Guard, the Sarasota Police, the Longboat Key Police, the Florida State Police, the US Power Squadron, the US Navy, Kim Hollamby, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, CIA, my shrink or my attorney? I'm soooo upset, I could whinge on and on and on and on about it. Please don't hesitate to reply with your condolences and (polite) suggestions.

Re: Stinkies\' wash problem

I am currently in process of producing a database of boats seen doing something that has basicly been wrong or unsafe or just damn right rude.

I decided this after a sail back from Cowes when the Royal Yacht Squadron Ribs boys flew past me, far to close and bassicly unsafe. Then a couple of motor boaters went passed creating a huge wash whilst we had some one up the mast.

The worst place for this is the entrance to Cjichester Harbour where they think that the speed limit finishes just south of the sailing club. Next summer I will be taking my video camera with me.

I might even set up a website.

I understand that motor boats have real hard time of it becuase if they go slowly then there is a was and if they go fast they are often breaking the speed limit.

Re: 8\" not enough

Its a very old 12" Fullerscopes with both the newtonian and cassigrain bits and pieces.Got all the drives n stuff.Would have cost loads in the 1960s.Belonged to a vicar who had it in a proper observatory. All the fullerscopes mirrors were signed ,But have not had chance to see who made it.
Sort of up and running but not started to collimate etc yet.
nice images which "Snap" into focus so optics seem good.
Skies here are rubbish at moment.

Re: 8\" not enough

I'm not familiar w/Fullerscopes, but description is impressive. Skies here are naff too, but we are having spectacular electrical storms almost every evening and about 2" of rain in an hour. This month is the peak of the hurricane season and it's been quiet so far, but we are always keeping our fingers crossed at this time of year. This island has not been badly hit in a long time, but probabilities and all that.....

Fullerscopes were/are Broadhurst Clarkson.premises in Farringdon Road EC1.Think they have been is the game for at least the last two centuries or so.
Think Newton may have bought his first telescope there.

You obviously have loads of free time to consider constructing a database and web site on boaters not conforming to your set of rules. Perhaps all your spare time would be better spent "getting a life"
