Odd that after a bit of a trip (25nm or so) the port engine control does not like changing to reverse and back for manouvering. If left for a while (10 mins I guess) all goes back to normal.

From start up no problem as its only the end of the trip that I have the problem and its only on the port one.

Any ideas on this please?

Thanks

Nick

The rear pin on the gearbox stator is overheating, and there is nothing you can do about it, other than breakdown next time out. New engine and gearbox I'm afraid!

Brendan. I think he should really go for TWO new engines, to be sure - the second one is bound to follow suit shortly after the replacement of the first - sods law!. Also, having one only new engine, this, being far more effecient than the remaining one, would have to run some 500rpm slower than the other, or he would have the boat crabbing like a plane in a cross wind.

No, I think it has to be two.....but don't worry Nick, around £25K should see the job done.

< Not really being much help are we??!! >

Actually does sound like an "expansion" problem, but with the control cables....

- Do you have same problem using both Flybridge and Lower helm controls ?
- Have you tried to disconnect one and repeat & reverse the process to eliminate one or more of the control cables, or the slider where they go down to the gearbox ?

Reason for the thought is that I experienced a similar thing with the throttle cable on one of the engines in my new acquisition... being stuck @ 1800 RPM ...(WOT @ 2300).... which made an interesting approach towards the harbour... Did this elimination process on the slider and managed to free the cable for manouvering movement, but ended up replacing the cable afterwards.
