May I ask how fellow cruisers, who do not have either a UK or EU passport, overcome the 90 day limit that one is allowed to stay in the main group of European countries.

Kind regards

one recognised solution is to make an occasional visit to somewhere outside the EU. this includes places like gibraltar, malta, jersey etc.

There seem to be an awful lot of non europeans who come back to Barcelona every winter without any great problem. Try to visit or over winter there then you can talk to them.

The answer varies a good deal, depending on changing rules and varying interpretations of them by officialdom. One good source of information is the Seven Seas Cruising Association (www.ssca.org) which publishes a monthly newsletter containing detailed reports from members, including many who are cruising in Europe. You can join as an associate member for a modest annual fee and get current and back issues.

Post Script Re: Staying in Europe

Officialdom is usually not very interested in cruising sailors, so long as they have enough money to support themselves and are not terrorists or drug smugglers.
When it comes to wintering, marinas and local shops are happy to have the income cruisers provide in their off season, and may encourage local officials to find loopholes in regulations or simply ignore them.
