As a Solent boater, I would have said a wooden boat needs to 'plim up'' or take up' however, our Cornish Fisherman in his thread said to leave it to 'staunch'

Presumably eleswhere in the country there's other terms for it?

Some years ago a neighbour asked how to stop his newly launched clinker dinghy leaking.
I told him it probably just needed plimming [or plimbing?]
A while later he came back and asked
"where can I buy some of that plimming, none of the chandleries have any."

My late friend who hailed from Poole introduced me to the term ‘plymming’ or ‘plimming’ up when we talked about this but my family from the Westcountry always referred to ‘taking-up’.
