1, dont press heat and just see if turns over , if so it could be the heater plugs ,
2, If it trips unbolt the starter motor make secure then give it a quick spin if it trips its the starter motor.

Is it possible that it’s trying to load itself before it’s even ran up ? Perhaps a breaker stuck closed or something to do with a changeover from shore ?

Wondered if anyone would know what else i could try re below please

On my Grand Banks 36' motor yacht i have a old Cummins Onan 6.5 Marine Gen Set completed 220 hours that will not start attached photos. After pressing the red switch to on then the black switch preheat before pressing the start switch unfortunately every time in trying to start the red on switch trips off straight away.

I have tried replacing many things new relays starting solonoid and starting motor - starter switch - reset switch also exhaust sensor and made sure my 1 year old battery is fully charged to no avail. So wondered if anyone would know what the fault is as for the last 8 years it has always started first time. Attached photos.
Would appreciate any help you can give me.

Many Thanks.

Bob on Seakale.
Is the fuel solenoid free on the injection pump? You should be able to pull it across freely. Sometimes the fuel pumps seize if not used for a long time. This will trip the red breaker. You can also try disconnecting the fuel solenoid wiring and then see if it cranks over.
