Wondered if anyone would know what else i could try re below please

On my Grand Banks 36' motor yacht i have a old Cummins Onan 6.5 Marine Gen Set completed 220 hours that will not start attached photos. After pressing the red switch to on then the black switch preheat before pressing the start switch unfortunately every time in trying to start the red on switch trips off straight away.

I have tried replacing many things new relays starting solonoid and starting motor - starter switch - reset switch also exhaust sensor and made sure my 1 year old battery is fully charged to no avail. So wondered if anyone would know what the fault is as for the last 8 years it has always started first time. Attached photos.
Would appreciate any help you can give me.

Many Thanks.

Photo's?
My Onan 7kVA sends a sequence of blinks (shutdown codes) which tells you the fault, does your Genny have this facility?

Hi. Despite the new battery rule out…I think I’d still be tempted to run leads from the engine battery bank…just to make sure perhaps.
I can’t see any pictures but what is the red switch specifically noted as ? Is there a chance that the engine has hydro-locked somehow?

Have you cracked open any fuel nuts ?

As mentioned by harvey 38 , any more sensors scattered about to check ? You have done the exhaust temp .
locate them and read up on jumping them to get them temporarily out of the way .

You only need 3 things for it to run .

1-Fuel = crack a few nuts , then crank it .Is there a fuel solinoid……theses normally are used to shut it down .If thats faulty ? Can you bypass it temporarily.Use rubber pipe so you can nip it to stop the motor .

2- Air - filter ? Is it oiled up over clogged ?

3- compression - Has it been stood for a long period with salty air ( from its seawater cooled exhaust) rusting the valve seat + valve head = leaky now ?

Read up on the safety side of cracking fuel nuts .

Does the red on switch trip as soon as you press the black pre heat or only when you press the start button. Does the motor turn over at all, or try to? Any clicks before etc before the red trips

It trips as soon as hit the start. When it first happened to not start it did try to crank over but on slightly before red switch tripped but since no trying only trips straight away and no clicks before appreciate your response many thanks

Sounds as if either somthing is over loading the start button circuit causing it to trip or some overload protection is tripping at too low a current.
I see you have replaced the starter and I assume a fairly std starter motor with a solenoid piggy backing the motor, have you tried disconnecting the solenoid energize cable? if the red button then still trips (no starter load) may point to a wireing problem.

Hi, the generator also has a "fuse" or similar that shuts off the diesel if you even exceed the Kw it can provide.

look at your manual and check these generator guards, they could be the cause of the diesel engine not starting problem.
