On Lambrettas it was the Wal Philips Injector I seem to remember. Same thing
Absolute bugger to start.
I overcame all these problems by fitting an SU carb to the Harley. Started first kick. Ran like a dream and hugely improved the fuel consumption (to over 30 mpg).

That looks like the exact thing, maybe Alf Hagon just sold them or added his brand name.
Mind you, if us greasers had known that they were used on Lambrettas we wouldn't have had anything to do with them.

We used to put our Seagull spark plug under the grill periodically and also used WD40 at the inlet to help the compression and squirt pure petrol in.
I used to like the Seagull ad. with the sailor wandering home with his Seagull.....presumably to fix it .....again!!!

On the other hand he could have been carrying it home - a) simply because he could without getting a hernia, or b) to do some routine maintenance on it, which some owners seem to think is unnecessary.

For some strange reason, if someone fails to maintain a Yamaha/ Evinrude/ Mariner or whatever for 10 years, and it fails to start - people would have no difficulty in blaming the owner ....

But if the same story is applied to a Seagull - it's the bl##dy engine's fault. As the Yanks say - "go figure".
