I have been fascinated by how great the footage has been from this year's vendee. People like Conrad C and Boris H have consistently posted top rate videos without any wavering about or lurching.
I would be interested to know what if anything do people use to get decent quality videos or stills when it gets a but rough?

I have a GoPro 10 it has a function to keep the horizon steady in certain modes, the newer GoPro cameras have better levelling than my old one.

You can also get gimbal mounts for cameras that will keep the camera level while all around is moving, some from one manufacturer has an integrated gimbal that can take either your phone or an action camera and it will track your movement and do it's best to keep you in the frame.

My little cheap,£40 Eufy pan and tilt camera can do the motion tracking but it does not keep the horizon level nor is it waterproof.

As "Alicat" says - gimballed and electronic image stabilisation is the key.

Even in post processing .. many of the cameras such as GoPro and the DJI provide video processing programs that can reduce shaking in the videos ...

Just use a samsung galaxy phone as they have brilliant optical image stabiliser built in.
You can shake the phone wildly but its barely any movement when played back.
This one shoots 8k and is waterproof.

They’re almost certainly using 360 cameras these days which is like the GoPro horizon leveling on steroids. This would allow editors back home to frame the shot after the fact in case the sailor didn’t quite get it spot on.

The boats on the America's Cup and other races use specialist rigs built by a fella in the New Forest called BR Remote. Would be surprised if they weren't doing similar on the Vendée.

GoPro with the “max” mod lense and horizon lock.
Here’s some of mine.
