Just arrived in Victoria marina guernsey and very pleased to say that since my last visit about 4 weeks ago they have joined together two of the outer harbours flooring jetties with another jetty forming a U shape and then added a walk ashore jetty. It looks good and even in June is pretty full. So I think they have removed one of the big problems of the outer harbour and getting ashore and this now means you can commend go at any time of the tide and still walk ashore. I guess the only drawback is the lack of electricity.

Though potential visitors would be interested and well done to St. Peter port for a good improvement.

Full this morning, so seems to be getting approval from visitors. I guess it will help the load on Victoria marina.

Talked to harbour staff last week who said it was only a trial and was dependent on what happens in strong contrary winds.

I can believe that, sometimes it gets quite choppy even in victoria marina if the wind blows from south (I think)

Just an update re the outer harbour. I believe tomorrow they will start to extend the pontoons and join them all up to ensure they all will have walk ashore capability. The intention is to only have this in place over the summer months and having just walked the jetty I have to express surprise as to how it will stand up to a easterly strong wind. I am belt and braces and would have beefed up a lot of the fixings. But that's me. It's still a great idea and I hope it works

So, presumably, this has blocked off anyone coming and going from the western end of the pontoons in the pool, which must make coming and going a bit more of a challenge when rafted several boats deep. I once had to extract myself when the gap through the middle was only a couple of feet wider than my boat. (I wasn't sure whether the assembled crowd were wishing me luck or hoping I'd screw it up).

Not so bad that time, as I was halfway along the pontoon. I can imagine that being stuck at the far end of a blind alley could be a bit of a pain.

I used to quite enjoy inflating the dinghy for that trip ashore....

I've just bought an electric dinghy pump. May not need it now.
Is Victoria Marina bookable or is it first come first served?
(Not strictly true as usually it is last to arrive gets to be first in to Victoria Marina.)

Yes you are right and the harbour master has said he is already having problems in that no one wants to go down dead end of the pontoon. Fitted another one today, only took a few hours and then was full of boats by afternoon
