Spreader Tube

I can find Aluminium Round Tube 6082T6 1"1/4 in x 10 swg to buy, but I have been advised to use 6063T6. The length of each spreader is 3' 2" can anyone advise if the 6082t6 is as good to use.

No experience of using either, but searching shows 6082-t6 to be considerably stronger in tensile that 6063-t6, with similar corrosion resistance and weldability.

6082 is significantly stronger. It is referred to as a structural alloy whereas 6063 is referred to as an architectural alloy.

I have not found any info on the corrosion resistance of them.

Google the numbers and you will find the specs

From memory 6082 is the same as HE30. 6062 contains a higher proportion of lead.
Suggest do a search for 1 1/4" HE30

Edit: just re-read OP, 6082 will be fine IMHO

Sailspar in Essex used to use this size tube 1"1/4 x 10 swg anodized as spreaders when all spreaders were round! Really important to buy anodized tube as this will not corrode. HE30 seems to ring a bell. Maybe Sailspar can still supply?
