Are you sure you are on the right forum,its only those wimps with sails which run for the hard at the first sign of of a few leaves dropping off trees.
Us motorboaters,are made of harder stuff....well those of us with proper boats anyway.

I'll never understand
why peeps put there boats away for winter . We always try to have xmas or new year on boat ! There's always a few odd weeks/ends that are worth having on boat during winter.

Absolutely - we'll be still afloat (I hope!!) until Jan/Feb. If time allows there will be some lovely days to come in quiet ports of call. We'll be snug as a bug in our nice heated wheelhouse!!

We have already been out, and now back in, not expected to be out until june/july 2012, fingers crossed.In commision and use until then. Mind you it is a proper boat.

Naughty-Cal is staying in the water though. Winter is a great time for boating, the waters are quieter and the scenery can be simply stunning. NC isnt coming out again now until March next year when she will be lifted, washed off, anodes checked and changed as necessary and the drive oil dropped and changed then (hopefully) relaunched again within four hours.

Sea Rush stays in some winters, it depends on the work that needs doing. I do take the sails off her tho & treat her as a MoBo & the Straits are lovely on sunny winter days. I have a catlytic heater, but it can't be left on too long - definitely not overnight, so double sleeping bags are the order of the day.

We found a low powered electric blanket to be the answer to winter cruising last winter. We dont keep the heating on overnight as the fuel pump is right next to the midships

I like the sound of leaving the boat in the water to steal some sunny winter days out however I'd kind of heard it was advisable to take the boat out of the water to let the hull "dry out". Does it not matter leaving the hull immersed all year round?
