Seeing the Shipwreck is getting pasted, I thought it would be good to offer general recommendations as to where to eat.

Presently in Dover we tried the new Cinamon Island last night, (on the S sude of the underpass just near the RCPYC). Very good and tasty curry full of flavours and not the poor rubbish often served by curry houses that use Brakes

Keep going as far as Ramsgate. Flavours by Kumar is the best curry I've ever had. Also la Magnolia over looking the harbour. Real Neapolitan food made by real Neapolitan people.

Dover - Cullins Yard good beer and Steaks
Ramsgate - Belgian Bar - nicely bohemian and huge range of draught and bottled Belgian beer, food ok. Possibly avoid the restaurant on the end of the breakwater but food ok but strange place!

And of course Ipswich - FMYC

Anyone been to the Lord Nelson behind the Custom House lately, used to do a good ribeye and Adnams.

That seems to be a real problem with a lot of places these days. They over feed you with main the course. The real profit is made by selling less food and getting customers to order a dessert.

Harbour Inn Southwold. Avoid in June/July/August because it's stupidly busy. On a winter day with the open fires roaring the fish and chips and Adnams is just perfect. Further up, the Harbour cafe is the friendliest place we know and the food is home made, again very busy in summer but in winter it's one of our favourite haunts.

There is a Thai restaurant on the main Ramsgate "promenade" bit near the marina. This is the bit that goes slightly uphill. Had an excellent green curry there two weeks ago, Italian next door was very good too. The Queen Charlotte on one of the side streets near the Marina is a proper, and slightly bohemian, pub which had some excellent beers.

Royal Templar Yacht Club, open for visiting yachties, if you want a quiet pint with great views of the Marina.

I spent a week holled up in Ramsgate to avoid the recent stormy weather and kind of got to like the place.

If you mean the Surin Thai in Harbour Street (Ramsgate), we were in there for the first time last night and thought it was excellent - went there because the Thai Orchid was fully booked.

Butt and Oyster at Pin Mill is OK and a lovely location, but extremely busy i Summer. As with #15, lovely in the Winter with the open fire and a nice game stew.

The Rose at Shotley does decent pub grub, good sized portions and not pricey.

I reckon there is a touch of 'Emperor's Clothes' about the B & O - We've had to send two meals back, both with under cooked Chicken, any Chef should know better,,,,,
