Someone came to see my boat today and as I showed them over it I saw it 'refreshed' so to speak. I liked what I saw so much I am now in a quandary. The guy likes it, likes the price and is prepared to proceed in the new year. Problem is I'm now worried about what I can replace her with, question is do I make a better offer? Seriously! I feel like a reverse time waster, I don't think I want to sell her now.

I had the same problem when I sold my last boat.
I took it up to Scotland, liked it so much that I left it up there.
But put it up for sale thinking it would take ages.
Bloke came to buy it a week latter.
Err. The dinghy's not included. " Its ok I dont want that." "No theres nothing off the asking price." "Ok then"
They were living on it when we went back for our gear. It felt like we'd got squatters!

So have you seen any boat that atkes your fancy. I think you said last night you would look at a Crown - have you seen one?

Not really John, I do like the Crown but they are slowish and now getting on somewhat but I still think they are a superb boat, the hull is tried and tested being the same hull as on the Continental and the Ocean 37.
I have a feeling I may become a time waster and keep my boat especially as Boatone has given me a good idea for getting on and off at locks which may mean I can still single hand her.

Well my daughter's still available if you need any help getting off. I'm sure for the right consideration she'd give you a hand.

Thought process

Something wrong with the thought process here Byron: Why is your boat for sale? Were you intending to get out of boating? Do you need the cash? Do you dislike the boat so much? I don't think so. I could understand your motive if you had seen something else which you really wanted and could afford, but from what you've told us I don't understand why it's for sale. Go listen to some soothing classical music and think it over:)

Re: Similar Situation

Byron

Think your in a bit of a situation that im sort of in. I really miss our old boat for the pure reason this one is a b****** to handle. BUT.....I'm determined to have the upper hand over it, its a bit daunting when you go from able to take the boat single handed with confidence and trust from fragile father to frighted to even touch the throttles coz your completely unsure of whats gonna happen. My advise to you is if you love her keep her and work round you prob, take her out with some people as a back up and practice handling her as if you were on your own, breast lines etc may help. Unlike me you wont have to start from scratch, you've just got work a little harder. Cheers for the emails by the way, v good site!

Re: Similar Situation

Good Idea Haydn, I get a box, every lock I come to I clamber down, put the box there, then single hand her through the lock. Using the box I get back aboard, then get off again, lift the box back on, then clamber back up again. Sounds like a real cool idea. Actually Boatone contacted me with an excellent idea one I shall certainly look into.

Re: Easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Byron just dont get off the boat, you "oldies" err sorry did i say old i meant boating enthusiasts are always complaining that you have to leave the boat. simple solution is to train Oi better, she can get your supplies for you and bingo no box needed.

Alternatively, i know this was mentioned earlier but..........
Child for sale 14 next weekend
is pain in rear end to family but very nice to strangers
loves to walk dogs at 6am
is willing to wash boat! Free to collecter

All of above Byron you've had experience of and know she is very reliable!
