Well, it eas meant to be tongue in cheek. We too lived in Bermondsey. We knew all our neighbours, very necessary to know who the local low lives were.

I spoke to MDL regarding our berth that will be vacant for two months after mid May.
We aren't allowed to let anyone on it at all as our contract is for the boat not the berth. Whilst it's out of the water, they will kindly give us 3 Otium Points (worth £3) if they use it for a visitor (who will be paying c £50/60 to stay).
The 3 points are not payable for any nights we stay in another MDL marina even though we have to pay to stay there (we're not on the Freedom Berthing contract).

When I first left the army and was looking for work, I lived in a flat in Camberwell with a bunch of students. I was very surprised any of them passed their courses as the whole street was constantly partying.

Yes, they certainly have you by the balls with the contracts. We used to have the option of 28 days free at other MDL marinas but we just didn’t use them as it was cheaper to use others for the few times we stayed elsewhere. When we decided to sell the boat we gave the statutory 4 weeks notice and enquired about short term dry storage but it was much cheaper to move elsewhere, no discount despite having been a customer for five years.
