Please see photo of my panel it's been on the boat about 3 years. Just started peeling the top away. Do you think it was supposed to be taken off straight away or it's part of it.

It looks like a screen/glass protector.
Can't tell from the photo but if so you may get a few more watts from that panel. Probably meant to come off at instalation. No harm done. Did it work OK. Thats all that matters.

I wonder how many people are now going to take a second look at their own panels, just in case..

When one of my original small LVM panels started to shed the film, they advised it was there as protection and not to remove it all.

I have fitted an awful lot of solar panels, never seen one that has had a film that was meant to be removed.
