Took panel outside this morning ... sun was behind thin cloud .... meter on the leads .... 21.7V
Previously I mentioned 15.8v .. but that was a very poor day and I just accepted the figure.
I have not changed my mind about its possible use to charge the 12V battery for the Gate opener ... but the fact that it is producing what the specs say it should (in open voltage) ... says to me that the damage may only be to the backing material. The front panel itself only has feint marks and to see any - needs careful close observation. I would expect if damage was more - that the panel would either be dead or reduced output.
