Hi Guys

i cant make my mind up on weither i should go with wind power or solar power,i intend to have a battery bank of 240Ah,so in our soggy climate,is it solar or wind.I have a 26ft boat

From a 70 watt solar panel you will get about 4 amps on a good summer day for about 6 - 8 hours.
From a wind generator you will get a similar output if the wind speed is 15 mph or more as long as the wind blows, which could be 24 hours or non at all.
The answer to your question is BOTH but nodoubt like most of us this is not an option.
Which one you chose is upto you but fit a regulator or you stand the chance of overcharge.

Impossible to answer.... you need to do an audit of what power you will be using and what charging regime you therefore need.....

if you are on shore power all week, you might not need either.... if you sit on a mooring you may just need the odd engine run, or perhaps one of the two options or possibly even both...

Many survive without either quite happily on a mooring (in fact, i'd say most rather than many)....

All depends upon how much power you need to use when aboard and how quickly/often it needs topping back up.....

We have a Rutland 913 and so far have not needed to get power from anywhere else (running engine etc). The beuty with wind is that our batteries are topped up in the night (mostly) after the previous evenings use. Our current battery bank is 270 ah and boat use is 1-2 days per week during this last winter.
Will be going solar too prior to heading south.......
