So if you were living in Motherwell, where would you moor?

Hmm? Not an idle question, this is for 35 foot Lift Keel, marinas to be avoided if possible, but if I must then I must.

Port Grimaud....

Nothing else in the Clyde Valley even comes close!

what about the moorings at Rosneath (sp?) - a lot cheaper than the marinas

If it were me I would keep her on the west coast though - moorings at Ardfern, Linnhe Marine, Kilmelford would all really appeal

several options, the sailing season in Scotalnd is short cold and wet.

I'd moor the boat in Oban or that area for the summer, not too far from Motherwell.
Otherwise I'd have a look at Largs area or bite the bullet move it to the Med and get cheap flights from Edinburgh

You lot were obviously partying last night!! So was I, with a girlfriend and a bottle of decent red, but we weren't online, not here, anyway.. I could do with a real, rather than virtual party - anyone holding one? Or you could all come along here... yeah!!! Dolly Parton on the player at the moment, rockin!

I think you should decide where you will want to live, first. It won't be Motherwell, I'm sure. Any kind of commute would be better than that.

I have a 'proper' interview on Thursday, and the plant location is Motherwell. I suppose the new thread will be, where to live if I work in Motherwell, and want to keep my boat up there.

Apologies to Donald here but where he keeps his boat is just about the best location for a swinging mooring in the Clyde area: well sheltered but in the epicentre of some of the best sailing waters in the world surely!!! Be about a 2.5 hr drive from Motherwell. Also agree with Roseneath/Clynder but at a bit of a cul de sac sailing wise though less than 1 hour from Motherwell

I am assuming that you would want to leave your boat on the Clyde naturally

Why not moor it at Fairlie or Largs on the moorings outside the marina. Largs channel is sheltered and gives excellent access to the Kyles, Loch Fyne or the upper clyde.
Rhu marina have serviced moorings (they take you to the boat using their launch) which may give a good balance between marina convenience and the lower cost of a mooring. Alternatively join the Royal Gourock or Royal Northern & Clyde and use the club moorings.
Plenty options to choose from.
