So what's on your shopping list this year at SIBS?

I'm after a new set of sails, to replace my old blown out genoa.

Happy spending.

There are some good deals but IMHO the hassle of dragging stuff around just isn't worth it. Most stuff is cheaper online. Best place for oilies is the Musto outlet store at Bicester. It is good however for booking courses and holidays. A lot of these get cleared out at the boat show.
I shall be shopping for ideas rather than anything specific.

We're doing the America's Cup Yacht jolly again this year - hope we get as good wind as we did last year - wheeeeeeee!

Definitely. We got a couple of hours on the water, had a go at several different bits of crewing. My husband was ticked off 'cos I got to helm and he didn't!

Good fun...

If you are going only to save money, then add the cost on the ticket, travel etc onto the price of the bargin. Go for insperation, buy later and let DHL do all the carting around.

After this summer a full cockpit cover so I can sit out when it rains which will probably guarantee a scorching summer next year. It'll be worth it if it does. And my annual pair of deck shoes, hopefully at a discount on the last day.

Almost everything apart from a boat, which is already on order.

Dinghy and outboard. Those Suzmars ranked well in a group test last year but the 2004 models are a too flash for my liking with their two tone colour scheme. Perhaps best to get to know the new boat then I can decide between a 2.3m or 2.6m model. Then there is the 2 v. 4 stroke argument, can't go wrong with a 2 stroke Yamaha me thinks.

Trying to make up mind on a chart plotter but I think I will go for the new Raymarine pocket plotter and watch developments on the more expensive gear.

Finally I am going to fondle lots of sail cloth examples and try to get my head around the technology options. Currently favour a bi-radial main in a Dacron fabric reinforced with spectra made by Dimension Polyant. Trouble is sail makers hear "Bavaria Match 35" and start talking about expensive high technology.
