Shopping in hollond?

Any idea which credit cards Dutch super-markets will accept?
A £100+ re-victual last year left me a little red in the face when my Royal Bank of Scotland Mastercard was refused and I had to spend my Dutch drinking coupons.
naturally the cash point was MILES away,,,,

To be on the safe side my wife has Visa and I have Mastercard. We've both been refused but thankfully not at the same time.
