Tutts declared this morning, that we had to go to Kendal, To the K shoe factory shop. Cos the factory is closing down. So bought loads of shoes all leather and maybe 15 quid a pair. Then bought wheely suitcase to put them in. Whilst there I continued my endless quest for salt and pepper pots. Tutts broke one about nine months ago and have not found a replacement yet!! We've looked in Barcelona but there all about an inch tall there. Looked everywhere, but they all have donald duck or some other silly motiff on them and the other thing is. They all have loads of holes in the top, so cant tell salt from peper. Is this a new EEC directive and must I complie. Just want a pot pair (white) Silver, even stainless steel. Not green with flowers on. But must have proper distinguishing HOLE IN TOP. Now where was I. Ho yes I digress. Anyway you may ask. What was I doing driving for an hour to go to a bloody shoe shop. Ah well. Windermere is just round the corner and I could go and look at some boats. See, not all daft. Anyway unlike other marinas, nearly all the boats there are Motor boats not only that. Sealines. The marina is right in the midle of the lake. No it is'nt its at the side. But anyway you can just go six mile this way and six miles that way. So why are they worried about the forthcoming 10 MPH speed limit and why dont they get a raggy. Thenat least they would have some thing to do all day. By the way. It was a lovely sunny day no wind and not a sausage on the water!!

What a lovely story, sounded like a really nice day out, I bet finding the salt pot would have been the cherry on the icing on the cake L.O.L.

Well I was forced to board Blue Fisher and head out onto the high seas in the quest to rape and pillage the sea bed, only first two divers axshully left more of their gear down there than they came up with. However all was not lost, the ancient mariner completely ballsed up reading the decca, no, I mean the GPS and eventually put me onto a good barren spot, but spoilt his fun by finding 2 x 5lb+ lobsters. Almost killed myself (yet again!) by running out of air when battling with the second of these blue claws, but propelled like a polaris missile surfaced safely with the goodies. Also felt smug and snug inside my new drysuit, axshully have one now that doesn't leak!

A good day was had by all, and what's all this got to do with your search for a salt pot with one hole. Well not a lot really, just reminded me that we have one on board which really belongs in a local pub /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Oh also had loads of sausages, a whole packet to be precise, that's why there wasn't a sausage on Windemere, they're all down here!

Now have the problem of a big lobster and too small a plan to cook it in - all suggestions welcome, presently living in the boot of my car. Praps Tutts can come up with a suitable name for her, yes it's definitely a she lobster, will make the cooking even better ;-))

I was up on Windermere yesterday but didn't see anyone with a donkey.

You're right it was a glorious day. It was a great day to be out on the water but could not get any fuel!!

Stinkies on Windermere? - Why not?. I would never get SWMBO on a raggie, I can go boating as long as she has her creature comforts.

I'm a learner too remember so its a good place to learn boat handling before I tackle the high seas!!. I actually read somewhere that most of the Sealines in the Marina Village never leave their moorings and are used as holiday cottages- come to think of it I think of wasn't it you that wrote that?

Dont think I wrote it. But probably true. No we left Harry at home. He gets car sick!!

I used to have an imitation Bayliner. An Imperial (The Boat with a hole) Cuddy Cabin thingy. Even with that we soon got fed up of towing it to Windermere. It's a bit like Blackpool with hills. Either big over posh hotels or beaf burgures and candy floss. Add in the Lake wardens and there would be more fun having a party on a pay and display car park with parking wardens for guests!! Used to also take the Osprey, Big fast sailing dinhy. That was much more fun on Lakes. Realy felt you had done something and could have adventures. My P35 used to be on Windermere when it was new. What a waste. What the hell could it do. Wiz round it all in an Hour. See the same things every day. Choice of three turisty pubs. Yuk!........./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I agree, I don't see us staying there more than the next two seasons, but I feel it is a good, safe environment for me to learn about my boat.

Lat Autumn I did my Powerboat Level 2 certificate, this coming autumn I am doing the Dayskipper Theory course at a local college and later this year / early next year I plan on getting the Coastal Endorement for my Level 2 Certificate. Doing this and using the boat on Windermere will give me the confidence to go to sea.

The next question is where to go?. The nearest coast to York is Whitby, Scarborough etc but there is nowhere really to go. Currently North Wales is favourite. As you are based "Up t'north" as well what would you recommend?

Hmmm. Difficult. I kept my last boat in Pwhelli North Wales. P33. Having trailed the Cudy V* thingy down there a few times. Pwhelli is great if just want to go out for the day and back again. All though Portmadog 7 mies away is nice, but tidal so not always possible. Abesock 5 miles is avery nice beach and hippy village. Again great for an afternoon Wicklow in Ireland 65 miles is the next sencible harbour. But after that, cruising Ireland is great. So the problem with Pwheli s. It's either a little shunt about or a hike over to Ireland before you can start to cruise with ease. Having said that. We didstay there for four years, so cant be that bad. Only snag is As far as I know. It's full!! Troon, Bottom end of Scotland is maybe an option for you. Easy (Relative) few hours/day/weeks Cruise up the west coast of Scotland. Some where to stop every hour or so. Sheltered waters. Excelent. Alot depends on the type of boat. It's capability and what your after.
