Shipping heavy stuff to a boat in the Med.

Please check out your man with a van very carefuly! we have heard, (no proof of facts yet) that some of them have been given a Very hard time! accused of inporting goods without a licence, without proof of VAT etc. The Greek gov said that they would stop the waggon drivers monopoly of the market and open it up to competition, they have failed to do so big time! no surprise there then. So out in Greece you pay top dollar for goods, even Lidyl is twice the price as the uk as a result of cartels.
Our friends brought a full container of goods out to the islands, plus they also bought the container for storage, 13 weeks later and 750 euros extra it arrived, lots of arguments and threats and knashing of teeth!
Good luck to all of you of course but be careful!
Should any long term forum member need a postal address on the ionian islands, I will help for no charge.

Mondial shipping. google them, weekly to athens, corfu.

+1 Used them to get an engine from the UK to Greece. Picked it up from their depot in Elephsina. Quick, efficient service and at a price which I was very pleased with. They charge on volume rather than weight. Only surprise was the handling fee I needed to pay in cash at their depot, worth asking ahead what that will be.

They also have agents that will deliver throughout Greece (or did at the time I used them) so a door to door service is entirely possible...
