Servicing Yanmar saildrive

Every few years you are supposed to replace the big rubber gasket - if that's not due, then I think you have it covered.

I had a detailed correspondence with Yanmar Europe about their new recommendation that the Large Diaphragn (Diaphragm A) Small Diaphragm (Diaphragm B) & both metal securing bands must be changed at least every 5 years. When you do this you have to replace the rubber fairing as well. So this is a major and expensive job.
I did the whole thing over the winter and it is quite straightforward but needs time and patience. In my case both diaphragms were perfect so I felt like I had spent a lot of time and moeny for no good reason

As an aside, for anyone who has not owned their boat from new and is not on Yanmar's customer contact list, there's been a recall on some of their 55hp saildrive engines to replace potentially faulty engine mounts. Having booked ours in to be done, I've lost the recall letter, so I cannot give the year(s) of manufacture or serial number range - perhaps someone else can. If you have a relatively new Yanmar 55hp Saildrive, it may be worth making enquiries.
