...just took a while for Bene to catch up...

In looks, yes. In fit out quality, not exactly, but thast's a perfectly ok paysyermoneytakesyerpick thing :-)
But both very nice machines indeed. Are you going for one of them Firefly?

Oh absolutely agree there. Indeed one is a less expensive (I wont say cheap) imitation of the other, (IMO!)

I'm affraid not buying anything at the mo, but SWMBO wants/needs something she can step on from the transom for reasons I will not go into now.... so not that I thought I would ever consider such a boat but sometimes needs must & just casting my eyes over what might be a Seabird replacement in the future and have been looking at things like...

We looked at a GT44 a few months back and i couldn't put my finger on it but something wasn't right with it. the full width owners cabin was great but the layout otherwise didn't do it for me.

they do look one and the same tho!!

On looks I prefers the bene, looks a bit more modern with the big window and I'm not keen on daft quarter light window on fairline...... It's obviously all about the windows for me :rolleyes:;):)

Petem on here is expert on t34 - he had one for a few years. That one is brokerage so the pricing is somewhat controlled by the seller rather than EBY. You could try lowball offer and it might or might not work

If you want more tonnage for same capital/costings I still think there is much more 50/50 boat ownership/sharing that could be done through this forum. I did it for years (not via forum) ages ago and it was very good. You sort of even know the pople off here so there is a bit of a head start there on the due diligence

We bought the Monte Carlo 42 (later becoming GT44 with virtually no changes) after a detailed evaluation between the two boats at SIBS 2010. For us the MC42/GT44 works because of the two full size cabins which means that everyone is very comfortable. The full width master cabin is amazing as it is particularly light with the full size windows in the hull. Not having to have a dinghy on the bathing platform is a great advantage as the tender garage gives storage for a 3.1m rib (deflated but pumped in about 2 minutes with a power pump) but most importantly the tender garage is underneath a very wide & 7 foot long sunbathing area. 2 such sunbathing areas on the boat is perfect solution for SWMBO and visiting daughters!

Other key features...........

Domestic size fridge in galley, just so much better than the small units in our previous Brooms
Good electronics spec as standard (radar chartplotter, autopilot, ais, vhf etc)
Great backup support by Dickies of Brighton

But back to original point of thread though, I have never had some many compliments about the looks of the boat. This happened regularly even when visiting south coast marinas stuffed with Fairlines, Princesses & Sunseekers.

As an added bonus, when we bought ours the price difference was many tens of thousands.

The reason we went to see it was I saw the picture of ours at anchor in mby a few months back and thought how good it looked!

I think it's just not the boat for us at the moment, cracking boat mind!
