Selva Outboards - any info ?

Hi,

Just got a used Selva 85 4HP 2 stroke outboard not the type with in-built petrol tank. It is a white engine cover with red Selva logo and says 85 on the back. Does anyone know how old this is likely to be and what too look out for mechanically on these Selva Outboards ? I have searched the net but there isn't much information on Selva. Are they a good little motor ?

Normally classed as a good workhorse without frills but reliable enough. Still available new,

I had a 1973 selva 50hp unfortunatly mine was terminally ill when i took receipt of it so i can't say what there like,
however, i found the guys at pacer marine down in poole, dorset very helpful with parts and information, it might
be an idea to give them a ring.

Had a Selva 15 twin for several seasons, and never had any trouble at all with it. Sorry to see it go (with the boat). The real nightmare was getting spares for it. Pacer Marine in poole being the only reliable S.coast source I could find. Mind you that was some years ago - the situation may have changed now.
