good afternoon all, i mite selling my boat privatly, what do i need to do?? is it just the bill of sale and inform the small ships registry that i no longer own the boat??

well, you ask to be removed as the owner on SSR; you dont need to offer the next owner, unless you want to. Cant recall if it costs to do that.
MCA do a bill of sale on the internet somewhere, and so do RYA.
Most people's worry is over the money. Dont fret too much over stories of dodgy bank drafts unless you really think you are dealing with some hood from the underworld. Alot of rubbish talked about it, really. An electronic Chaps payment costs about £20, though he should be able to transfer same day through Faster Payments System for up to £10k, free of charge, now.

You can do your own bill of sale - just like a letter; your address at top, date, buyers name and address, brief description of goods, marked up as "sold as seen" (eliminates any comeback) and price "in full and final settlement"

Copy for each party, both sign, plus names printed out for clarity. No need for witness.

Remove your name from SSR. You cannot transfer to new owner - he has to make new application. Tell your insurer, and boatyard etc - so no comeback/claims in hands of new owner.

Money - be absolutely sure that whatever method you use, your bank regards the receipt as "cleared beyond recall" Only then does the purchaser get possession and title to the goods!
