Seized bolt in alloy spreader

Hi Folks

I need to remove a 6mm stainless steel bolt had has seized solid in a round alloy spreader. Have tired all the usual things but so far it refuses to move. Looks like the next step could be to try and drill it out which I know will not be an easy task. Does anyone have any tips?

Have you tried boiling water?

Heating and tightening will often break the crust and get it out with no damage, a fine top flame or large soldering iron.

similar problem of alloy foil over a stainless fitting at he bottom of the rotostay has needed the flame fro a gas gun getting to burny temperature, and then hitting with a large blunt object. I would certainly use heat, and then a powered impact screwdriver.

Just to update on the post. Managed to get the bolt out with the help of heat.

FWIW, I've just managed to resolve two of these by use of PlusGas penetratiing stuff, overnight, and a hex socket-drive. Neither came easily, heat would have helped, but once the 'stick' was broken there was little problem.
