IMO an internal steering position is a waste of space.
A good autopilot and remote control is better.
You can sit up on the foredeck and steer the boat!
You can't do that with an internal wheel

In my op I didn't really say I wanted an internal steering position as I agree that for my fantasy trips I will be on autopilot or wind steering. The real purpose was daylight and views from inside at anchor or whilst cooking etc on passage.

The rms look fantastic but very light. I may have to start another thread on displacement ratios!!

I agree totally and it looks comical with the tiny traditional wooden ship's wheel fitted to the one I occasionally sail but it's still damned impressive that they managed to fit it in.
