Re: pre-owned, eh?

pre-owned, eh? Or, as they say at the bentley shop "previously cherished". Old, anyway, not new.

Ahem anyway nope not in the UK. BUT there are loads of foreign mags, not available in uk shops. To find them, use the french or spanish spellings in google such as "annonces bateaux" for french and erm not sure for spanish possibliy "Oily Motorboatidad".

Not sure if with your handle an alternative would be okay, but an equivalent sized Bahia wil usually be a quicker boat...

And get laid on all the other bits....

Yo Ho Ho.... I should have realised that being a virgin to the boating fraternity and posting a message leaves me wide open to the cutting comments of the hardy seamen - or knobs that this type of activity tends to attract....

Re: er steady on sunseeker?...

you can put a little "signoff" or "signature" on all the posts, so that's what happened, not cutting nastiness from sailbad aimed at you. Or maybe i am being hypersensitive?

No, no, no.............

....you've got the wrong end of the yardarm.................
"You sail on the white bits, anchor on the blue bits, get drunk on the yellow bits" in sailbadthesinners post is not aimed at you and I dont think he's a knob or making a cuttuing comment. Its a sort of 'signature line' that he uses at the end of all his messages (god knows why but he obviously likes it). Others say equally silly things aboout seagulls walking, being volunteers, not wanting to be called Sandra etc etc.
Dont worry, you WILL know when you're being got at........believe me !!!

Re: er steady on sunseeker?...

Errr Ok apologies all round for being a little slow in the nautical department.... you have to understand(as previously stated) I am a relative virgin to all this....

Anyway thanks for the advise on creating signatures...... can someone please respond and tell me if it has worked....

I came to this website and all I learned was how to add this frigging signature.....

Re: er steady on sunseeker?...

Its working

and welcome!!!!
good luck with the boat hunt.

If you get bored of boating
you could always stay at home and set fire to a thousand pounds every couple of months. the cost is the same but you donot get as wet

You sail on the white bits, anchor on the blue bits, get drunk on the yellow bits

Re: Yeah....it worked..............

I think I may be starting to get the "drift" of things although I think it will take me some time to get my head round all the the clever plays on words and the sexy nautical sigantures.....

Does anyone know of any websites offering second hand motor boats where I may be able to seek out a Sunseeker....

I came to this website and all I learned was how to add this frigging signature.....

Anyway, back to choosing a boat for Sunseeker...

Ahem.

Now then, first off, I note that he wants a boat, and er we'll assume it'll be a sunseeker.

But also, he aargh urgently needs a berth, as in the other post.

Now then. Hase gotta boat already? If he hasn't best way to proceed is to buy the boat from someone who can deliver a berth. OR, buy a lease on a berth ££££ but this may preclude buying a boat. What i'm saying is that if you choose an area or even a specific marina where you wanna be, then buy frm someone with the specific condition that it must be berthed there. If you rent, it's reasonable to ask for a firm commiittment to two years. Note that a secondahand boat will have oproblems, even small ones, and it's best to have some backup from the guy who soldit.

Digression: Note that in the uk, they can chuck you out too, but don't: The Unwritten Constitution of Queuing dictates that in the uk a renter stays there untill he's dead, and this same rule is the reason why your boss is older, lazier and more useless than you are.

One final point: if you buy in spain, Italy, or souther nFrance, they are not bound by Queuing Rules at all, so you can wait all day/all week for things they promised today. But they are bound by a code of Massively Sexist Favouritism Towards Women. You can use this. As an example, if you buy a boat and it's crap, well la di dah, you got a discount. BUT, if your wife is in on the deal, and signs THEN the boatdealer will be excommunicated by everyone if it has problems and he doesn't help out. These days, I always make sure wifey tackles the asking about tough problems when in foreign countries, and she seems to get berths and so on much more easily.
