Can anyone give me any info on a boat. The boat is a SeaSafe Dandy, i think they were made in somerset. It is a 16ft bilge keel. any info would be greatly appreciated

A chap on a fishing forum brought up the subject in 2008, and had some replies:

A tidy one here, for just under £1000: http://www.andyseedhouseboats.co.uk/sales/boatdetails2.php?boatid=1241

A Boatshed article describes the Dandy as being 15'9" long by 5'11" beam, 1'6" draft, with 4'9" headroom under the shelter; two berths inside. The figures may not be accurate though - they estimate displacement at 1000kg, which sounds a lot too much to me. I think the boats were built in the 1970s. All likely to be in somewhat tired condition by now.

Here are some photographs. The gunter rig in the first picture, is taken from a Heron dinghy. The Dandy won't be very quick under sail, because the Heron wasn't either, despite being a lot smaller and lighter than this.

Hope that helps!

tough as old boots

tougher than you are

can take the rough stuff

get a good outboard, stick it on the back

take it anywhere

buy it... slap some paint on it.... sail it

the view looking outwards from the cockpit is brilliant
