Well its been a long hunt with a few false starts on the way but I am about to sign up for a searay 425. Its not what we started off looking for(the original grand idea was a targa 47) but lots of helpful advice got us to focus on what we actually needed.
The boat ,which is our first, will be moored in st maxime in st tropez bay and we will use it mostly for day trips for ourselves and guests with maybe 1 or 2 week trips for the 2 of us.
All this took us to the door of Princess and fairline who we have pestered over the last 2 years and also to the used boat display at LBS this year and the ever helpful people from Essex. The combined wisdom was that we should look for something smaller so the targa 38 topped the list for quite some time while the search continued. The end result was finding the searay 425 which although 6 years old and with a high mileage has had one careful owner and is immaculate with a perfect service history.
Like me its big and beamy and has great space for entertaining.
There are dealers close by and it seems a lot of the depreciation has gone out of the boat so if we don't like med sailing(what's not to like!) or decide to change the boat we shouldn't lose too much.
A survey was done earlier this year by someone who pulled out and its fine.
So we should be good to go next month once she is cleaned and antifouled.
So what's the downside? Do any forum members have any comments or experience which would help me?
