I've just got back from lunch on the seafront at Westcliff-on-Sea where we could see lots of seals on the sandbank the other side of The Ray. I checked with my binoculars when I got back to the car and there were 30 - all shades from white to dark grey. Fabulous.

If it hadn't been a dull day and I'd had a telephoto lense I'd have taken a picture for you but it was, I haven't and I didn't.

All right for some.
Highlights of my day:
- walked the dog
- had a bath
- took all my pills
- watched 3 episodes of the West Wing
- took 2 winches apart

Tomorrow - more of the same

A picture would have been fabulous, but you couldn't, so you didn't and we haven't benefitted.

Here's a photo of their close cousins, who live at No1, The Middleway, River Roach, Essex.

There were 11 there (Yokesfleet) on Saturday. The light was fading when we got there, so I didn't get a photo, but we anchored just alongside them, and they didn't seem bothered. There were also brent geese, shelduck, avocets, curlews, redshanks, lapwings and loads of little brown birds that I can't identify - huge flocks. It's a lovely spot, even in December.

"Err John, you're supposed to line up with us and face the camera"

"No, I read the instructions on the back of the boat, we've all got to turn a full circle"

Highlights of the day

All Christmas shopping done between 9am and 10.50am.
Delivered present and Poinsettia to ancient Mum
Treated self to a heater for the workshop!
Cut and fitted four graving pieces to replace those old manky brass ferrules in the floor boats for the original saloon table that don't fit any more
Trod on cat - not my fault. She's black and was sitting outside the workshop in the dark when I came out
Was nice to SWMBO on at least 4 occasions today
Now about to go for a Ruby round the corner.

What will SWMBO have to say about that? Does she know her?

See, that Kenny Rogers knew that nothing rhymed with Ruby round the corner.

So Ruby - don't take your luff to town......

Could be turnstones (winter plumage must less distinctive than summer)- we get a lot of them this time of year

At least you managed something to do with the boat, Saturday was spent walking around Lincoln, up to the top of the hill, then all the way back and not a boat in sight /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Sunday was more of the same but in Spalding, still no boat stuff. Jeeze, my feet hurt /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
