Hello,

new to the forum, new to boating, and have a few questions.. any Sealine SC35 owners who have insight, I would be grateful if you can get in touch..?

question 1, the loo..!

My Manual shows a black waste and a grey waste tank, but in reality, there appears to be only 1 tank about midships... however it does have four pipes leading into/out of it, so maybe its partitioned inside..? anyway, the black waste light came on, took it to Windsor and did the pump out thing! it seemed to pump out liquid for the duration of the pump timer - about 15 mins.. but then 2 days later and not a lot of flushes, the black waste light came on again..?

The seacock is switched over to tank, but my logic tells me there should be a way of replacing the matter removed from the tank with air, otherwise the pump will struggle to pull anything out due to the vaccum its creating..?

Any thoughts would be appreciated..?

qusetion 2, bilge pumps..

there are two switches on the dash for pumps, if I turn them on, they light up red and after 5 seconds I get a piercing alarm, so turn them off.. I guess this means they are run dry, but then I have water in my rear port locker that looks to be over the pump housing..? any way I can check this is all running OK..? when I bought the boat it was dry as a bone, but now I have water sat in the bilge... thoughts..?

As a new owner, Im sure I will have more questions.. we are moored at Bray, so if you have an sc35 nearby, I would be happy to buy the beer and learn what I can!!

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben

The manual covers all options the gray waste was an option that is not normally fitted. The four pipes will be toilet in, deck pump out, macerator pump and air vent.

The alarm is normal it's just to leting you know they are on via the float switch or manual over ride switches on the dash.

The locker on the bp port side is ether a fender locker as standard or the optional out board locker this option was discontinued on around boat 100. How deep is yours if below the waterline then it's the outboard locker. It is normal to get water in that locker.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning another forum, but have you joined sealineforum.co.uk? There will be lots of people with same boat and they are a friendly and helpful bunch. Although you've got a thorough answer from church err.

Welcome to both Ben and Churcherr!

Can't help on the sc35, but there are several owners on here and I guess 1 or 2 will be along in a while with some sage advice for you. By the way, lovely boats the 35's :)

Hi,

We have an SC35. it only has a black waste tank, not a grey - although there are switches for both on the control panel. If when you empty the sink, you hear the sump pumping it out over the side then I would assume yours is the same. Presumably a grey waste tank would go where the locker is at the bottom of the stairs.

With regard to the black waste light, we've had the light stay on when it has been emptied, however crashing over a few big waves (we keep it on the sea) usually sorts it out. I try not to think about what goes on in there however I think there must be potential for the sensor to get stuck. Maybe if you bash the top of the tank a few times it might sort it out.

I was looking in our locker yesterday on the swim platform as a matter of fact and that had a bit of water in it quite high up the bilge pump, but the locker never fills up, so I suspect that it must pump it out when it gets to a certain amount, I've not actually tested it. There are manual pumps as well in the corner of the cockpit.

Hope this helps!

Simon

Hi and welcome to the forum.
We have a 35 and can only confirm all the above as normal with the exception of the black waste light issue. I can only assume what Simon says is possibly the issue there. Try filling it to the brim from outside and giving it a thorough clean out with the hose. (unless the sensor is situated too low?? maybe?).
The bilge alarms are a pain from the helm switches but nothing to be 'alarmed' about. (geddit? :D)
Our locker gets a fair bit of water in it too which I manually pump out from time to time if it really starts to bug me.
As Bush Boat says, the Sealine forum is also a great place for advice and info. Linky: http://sealineforum.co.uk/

The alarm is pump running, comes on after 5/7 seconds, monitoring all bilge pumps, giving warning that you have a leak. Float switch is feed by fuse, manual switch via circuit breaker providing dual power supply to pump.
