Hi
I wanted to remove the main fuel tank on my boat. I have removed all the hoses / sender etc Inc the hold down bar . The hold down bar attached to a tie rod that runs through the centre of the tank.
The tie rod is fastened somehow below the tank and prevents me from sliding out the tank.
Can anyone advise if the rod can be removed to allow the tank to slide out ?

Can you not just cut it out....and rejoin or replace the fittings once the tank is out ?

Possibly. I would need to raise the tank and try and get underneath with a hacksaw. The tank can only be raised around 4 inches and the distance from the front of the tank maybe 12 inches.
Do Merry Fisher design this part not to be removed I wonder. Poor design if so

Tanks are put in during construction phase....before the floors and superstructure are put on. And there is often no practical way to remove them. One option for the fuel tank on my Beneteau was a giant hole cut into the side of the hull....I opted for the engine out...the tank cut up to squeeze out...and the replacement tank to have a lower profile (read less fuel capacity) in order to go back in. And for your information, Beneteau (the parent company of Jeanneau) weren’t helpful....and were not willing to divulge the official way to change the tank.
Hopefully none of this will depress you...but the truth is most yards can do this sort of work
