I had delivered 32 and 35 mm dia silicon 90 degree bend yesterday from our good friends at amazon. Lets hope one will go over. Like you I don't want to be wrestling this over on the boat

Good call, silicon hose has that bit of give that more solid hose doesn't. I am tending to buy more of these small items off Amazon rather than Ebay. Order today with Amazon and get it next day, fed up with Ebay on delivery estimates. I ordered last Friday a 12v fuse box for est delivery Tuesday using RM 24, supposed posted out Monday, still not turned up yet. Asked seller yesterday for tracking no, no responce.

This is the pipe arrangement I have made up. The bend attached is a 32 mm ID pipe and the other one is 35 mm ID. If I have to use the 35 I will have to tape around the inner black pipe to get a seal

This is my hose thing - I would have posted earlier, but I have only just got back to the house.
What's inside the larger hose is an adaptor from an air pump that just happened to fit.
If your 32mm larger hose is a bit flexible, it should work fine.

Hopefully this thread will help others with this same problem. Given that all KAD32 owners should be doing this or draining down and given the difficulty I had finding the dimension and indeed the various ideas and beliefs on the forum and indeed the Sealine forum I kind of think many people are not doing this and hopefully getting a way with it.
I am off to the boat today to give it a go. I bet getting the old pipe off will not be fun...…… Don't you just love Volvo Penta !

Ah yes, getting the pipe off is not fun.
It might need twisting or pushing upwards first before it will move downwards.

Well I tried today and failed...… What a ridiculous System...…….. After about 1 hour laying on my belly I simply could not get the pipe off and it got to the point where I felt that I would potentially break something trying so abandoned that Idea.
I have bought a large storage box thing from QD Having measured the outdrive It will fit. I will also stuff in some pond liner I have so that the amount of water in it is less.
Volvo Penta need to have a word with mercruiser and they can show them how it is done.
I love the little diagram in the book showing the pipe easily coming off...…….. Yeah right.
Also I don't have the blue drain pipe thing the book mentions,.....
I bet most people are not doing this given the hassle it seems to be or worse are paying people to do it and they aint doing it

Yeh if the pipe has been on a long time its tough to remove
Push a screwdriver down it and grease it
But that shows it has not been done, this way, or poss not at all ??

Don't understand why my messages get deleted when I try to edit.
However Big Plumps shame you did not get message to take muffs before your trip.
I have used this method countless times even perfecting to incoporate tank under stendrive with bilge pump to recirculate coolant once seawater expelled.
It is always difficult to remove coolant hoses no matter who the engine manufacturer may be.

Well I have now spent most of the evening making a bespoke sized flushing box. It aint pretty but should do the trick. I will put some bricks in it before I fill it up so that the water volume is less for the Antifreeze mix.
I have bought 15 ltrs of the stuff. I can also give it a good old flush out first as it has been on the mooring for 2 Years on the Broads.
I rather think Volvo did not want to make this easy and as I said before I don't think many people actually do this... What do others think

That tarp is all stapled by the way and the sealant is my old friend CT1 if you have never used that before you don't know what you are missing

Not keen on the passive muffs idea, without decent water pressure using a hose, wooden bung and muffs, i cant rinse my kad with DP-E out in the yard
(New water pump and impeller)
Guess if i had a container above the kad to feed the muffs it would work, but some of it would spill, so then need a decent bucket and recirculate due to spillage
Or shove it up the rubber intake by the bellows, that’s more likely to work imo, but that hose is going to be tough to remove / repair if damaged, so not going to touch it unless unavoidable
Feeding it into the inlet of the pump is least risky imo, if you can get the hose on / off
Will be reporting on this experience shortly
Using the drain holes to ‘just’ remove all of the water is obviously also possible, but i doubt that has been done on my kad in the past, damaging a thread / head is a possibility, doubtless in a difficult to reach location

If you have problems removing intake hose from pump muffs are the other route apart from draining down via plugs and then that leaves the posibilities of seawater trapped in cavities. Also Volvo coolant includes inhibitors to protect exposed surfaces

I have 3 sets of different Muffs and they don't fit well at all. Also have to make up a little bung for the bottom of the leg...….

Muffs are being suggested again - we bought some that fitted perfectly but they just didn’t work. Maybe they might with some pressure added but the just won’t work relying on the raw water pump. Mates have found the same.
Getting the pipe off the raw water pump does take a bit of doing but a flat screwdriver pushed down between the pipe and the pump housing works in terms of freeing the pipe.

Well I am off back to the baot today (1.25 hour one way trip) I have 3 different 'tanks' to try and so that the Antifreeze is not too diluted I am going to try this:.
1) Start up the engine with the drive in a tank of water. If I can get the 'tank ' under
2) Run her a while to flush her out
3) The put on the muffs in the water with the pipe off.
4) Put bucket of antifreeze on the swim platform, Make sure pipe from bucket to leg is full of water
5) Attach pipe to muffs and hope it will draw through. If it doesn't it will still be in the water of the tank
6) I will have a bung or piece of gorilla tape over the hole in the bottom of the leg

Wondered if removing my Props (Duo) would help to get the drive in my 'tank' Checked out the web and you need a special tool...…. £76...… Thanks again Volvo for making things so easy.

Just a 17mm socket (take a selection) and a large set of pliers will take the props off, got the T shirt.
As long as you have done this in the recent past and they are not stuck, got the T shirt for that too.

Thanks for the information Simon but I have only had the boat a couple of years so don't know how long it was since the props last removes. Boat is on the Norfolk Broads and until now we both liked the boat.
I have to say that the more and more I search for things regarding Volopenta stuff the more and more I just want to throw in the towel and get rid of the sodding thing..... Feeling totally depressed about it to be honest.
Going today with 3 tanks (one I made taking 2 hrs) 3 Sets of muffs and more other kit than you can imagine.. Hours of research and just to do a very simple thing that should be easy. I bet I wont even be able to get the tank under the sodding drive
Or am I just wasting my time as I suspect most do not piss about with all this
