Can you help? I have a Sealine S23 with KAD 32 and 47 gallons of diesel. Where can I find information on the likely range at different cruising speeds? Not keen on running out half way to Holland or along the East Coast !
Any help would be appreciated - have tried Sealine but a deafly silence so far.

Contact Volvo and see if they have a fuel consumption v engine rpm curve (under load). Then run your boat at various different rpm and note the speed at each rpm setting. From this information you can calculate the fuel consumption and hence range at any given speed. Dont forget that you should assume a 20% safety margin

Thanks for that, I will try Volvo. Do the boat manufacturers do fuel consumption and range tests?

Ahoy

I used to have a S24 with a KAD32 (chopped in 3 months ago for a S28) and i used to base the range as 120 miles which left me with a margin for safety!

However i did find the important thing was to keep the outdrive as clean as possible so that it was as effecient as possible.

Usual cruising speed was around 24 knots with a top speed of 32 knots when all was clean below!

Happy boating :)

My S24 with a Diesel AD31 (150hp) - 49gal has a max range up to 220miles.

Create a spreadsheet and record your distance each trip and refuels you will evetually get a guide of the MPG and range, damn useful creating a graphs etc.
