The Seafairer 21 was available in a number of options such as a day cruiser with a large cockpit and a family cruiser with a stern cabin. I built a stern cabin version back in 75 and I often see it still pottering about on the Clyde. There are two versions of the hull and superstructure. The mark 1 had the superstructure and deck in two mouldings but the mark two had the deck and superstructure in one moulding which was better in that there was less of a problem with leaks. The actual hull shape according to the builders was based on a small Nelson. The boats vary a lot in terms of fit out as almost all were home built.
I sold mine to buy a 31' Westerly but having sold the Westerly after about 6 years later, I bought another Seafairer and am (very slowly) refurbishing it. The little boats handled well in rough water and in fact my previous boat could be safely left on the autopilot in pretty bad conditions. They tend to be a bit tender and need a fair amount of ballast. If you would like copies of the original literature, send us a msg and I will fax, post them to you.
Hello John,
I have bought a seafairer 21 and wondered if you would help me with some more detail on the history? I have read your posts on a couple of forums with interest.
I wonder if you have detail of the logo they once carried? I have attached a picture and wonder if you can confirm her as a Seafarer 21? Thank you, Liam
