I have owned my boat for only a few months, but the sea toilet has been in her since new (appx. 20 yrs). The seal around the pumping handle is passing water during use and I would like to know if any of you guys know where I can source a replacement set of seals, or whatever else is necessary to bring it back into a watertight condition.
The only info I can find written on it is "RASKE & u/d MEYDE, Amsterdam Holland" and what I take to be a model number - RM69.
I have tried a web search, but come up with nothing.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Jim

I dont know where you can get spares for your old one, but it seems to me to be cheaper these days to buy a new one Jabsco Par for less than £100 than to buy spares thats the way I intend to go next time.

I've just fitted a holding tank to mine - spares are fully available.

Manufacturers are:
Raske & v/d Meyde
Njerheit 17
Bofercault 1135
Edam, HOLLAND
Phone 0031 299371100
Fax 0031 299315050

UK Distributors are:
E C Smith & Sons Ltd
Units H/J, Kingsway Ind Est.
Kingsway, Luton LU1 1LP
Phone 01582 729721
Fax 01582 458893

I always carry a set of pump recondition spares - if your loo is as old as you say you may need to replace the pump-body and the pump spindle. Total cost about €32 - the last time I bought the kit it was £24.
I usually deal direct with Paul at Edam.

...nuff said

On our last boat, though, I have after 15yrs dismantled a RM69 toilet and I found so much wear that I replaced the whole thing for about GBP 100. The toilet is still sold so you can even get it fitting on the same spot. I would however also replace the hoses.

Re: R&M web site

R & M's web site is www.rm69.com
Good luck - Try a PAR/Jabsco toilet next time? - I,ve fitted 2 over the past few years and they are OK.
Also do as suggested earlier, fit new inlet and outlet 'NO SMELL' hoses and check/replace the seacocks.
Good luck!

stripped down my rm 69 of 1987 vintage and found several parts needed replacing including the stainless shaft. the cost of the bits in the uk was much the same as the cost of a new replacement (approx £90 from mailspeed), and since the design hasnt changed this was an easy but smelly job. would recommend you take this route. toilet failure in a one bog boat is not the sort of thing to endear you to your crew.

funnily enough, almost every french chandlery we looked in as we came up the coast from royan had at least a spare rm69 pump on prominent display. not quite sure what this implied about french toilet habits / digestive systems, and the spares were also noticeably cheaper

there is no point in fixing a 20 year old toilet. The new price for the RM 69 is 98 Euro. the spare kit is about 50 euro. So spare kit 50 %. They did what they call a "facelift" on the RM 69. This toilet had a few problem points. Leak at side lever, pump handle. You got went fingers at the pump. water slowly filled the pot. All this is fixed with the so called facelift. the liver is on the top and has 3 positions. Water in, discharge and close. The sell the facelift as an upgrade, but 79 Euro.
I bought the facelift, but when I took the pot out I found it had some small cracks in the back. So I retuned the facelift and got the new model. The pump works better. Its a little bit bigger and the mounting screws are no more in the same place. One extra feature is a small plate on the side of the pump. In case of blockage only the plate needs to be removed to get access to the pump. As said before they fixed all their short comings.

I'd like to find where you're getting a new 69 toilet for 90€, the last price I saw was 502€ (admittedly with holding tank). Without the tank I guess it was nearer 298€.

Sure it hasn't fallen off a wagon coming out of Njerheit 17?

Mind you anything is possible in the Nederlanden.
