Just saying things happen is not evidence. If you know anything about proper 316 stainless clips as most commonly used now you will know that failure except in very specific circumstances is almost unheard of. According to the biggest supplier of this type of clip the most common (but not common in absolute terms) is crevice corrosion in the threads usually when boats are left in hot humid climates. Even then the hose does not come off the spigot and the corrosion only becomes obvious when the clip is undone.Yes, they can and do fail.
Why risk your boat for the price of a (stainless) jubilee clip?
