Scillies to Brest

There's not all that much room - or such was my observation from the shore. There is a pool inside the entrance, where you'd probably be able to stay afloat at all stages of the tide but there are quite a lot of small craft moorings and I don't know whether a boat the size of Piers' Fleming would squeeze in and/or have enough space to swing at anchor. Upriver, it dries at LW although I seem to recall that you can dry out against the wall up at Lannion itself (though - again - that's probably far too dodgy with shafts, and Lannion isn't exactly the Jewel of the Cote de Granit rouge) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Mind you, to revert to the post that started this all off, I agree that Trebeurden doesn't have much to recommend it, though there is quite a good Cave up in the town............. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Unless you like spending money on very little, Trebeurden is well worth missing. The anchorage in the Lannion river is vastly preferable and is free.

By the way, I did treburden a couple of years ago and agree it is somewhat deadf, but the island is good walking.

Also went into Perros Guirec (Sp?) with fractions of mm to spare going through the cill pillars. Couldn't even have the fenders down. Many people were watching and thankfully I made it through without mishap. They even clapped! Phew...

Just looked in my old copy of Macmillan Reed's (2004) which is kept in the loo at jhr Towers, for casual perusal.

According to the chartlet, least depth over the Leguer River bar is 0.3, with 1.5 in the river, by the looks of it. You'd be OK if you went in at neaps but I still reckon it would be a squeeze. However, don't take this as Gospel - I was last there in 2006 and, as mentioned, I saw the anchorage from the shore, so may have a skewed perspective.

It's certainly a lovely spot, if you can get in.

Passage plan is to catch the ebb out of Milford am on the 9th and expect to be in sometime between midnight on the 10th and breackfast on the 11th. Will decide on which route to take around Oussant once we are close enough to get a good idea of the arrival time and likely wind/weather conditions.

Bilbo "Why do I never hear of any Brit using the Passage du Fromveur?" It could be that the tide reaches 6kn which tends to put most folks off?

Yes, that one is quite tight isn't it? Completely random lights on the tower too (note this yacht coming in though it s shown green on our side). Lovely place though - the town is wonderful, albeit up quite a hill from the marina....
