Anyone else seeing a large amount of saucy lady ads ‘between’ threads on the forum?

I’m worried it’s just me due to algorithmic profiling based on ‘other’ websites I may have inadvertently visited by complete mistake.

To the mods: whilst the ladies in question have the most pleasing countenances, I’m not sure they’re in keeping with the noble tradition of sailing and I’m worried some of our younger more easily led members may be lured by these sirens into dubious and immoral behaviour.

Your not the only one, though tonight its watches and Air Canada, it is usually ladies in bikinis and lingerie

If i am honest sirens in lingerie and bikinis are preferable to Air Canada and watches, but then I do count myself one of the younger members, perhaps I have frequented these foru too long.

Are you sure it was by "mistake"? Nod, nod, wink wink.

My girl friends. (I've told them not to touch my damned computer)
So sorry.:(

Dear 'fredrussell'

Do please point me in their direction. Chances are they'll likely be less boring than repetitive anchor threads.....

It is a well-known fact in the marketing industry that people find advertising annoying or very annoying.

Therefore, the goal is to annoy you as much as possible without you reacting by installing blockers or means to stop tracking and profiling you.

Personal preference, but once you've got enough (or just want not to waste your internet bandwidth) there are several options in ad blocker ad-ons, cookie managers or browsers that have it built in.

It's too bad for those trying to recoup their costs, but it's apparently getting out of hand when they have to use services that they don't how works behind the scenes. Lots of manoeuvres in the dark :alien:

Is that absolutly true? Yesterday on this site I was getting adverts for conservatory roofs and I have never needed to look at them.
Today I am getting 'The IWC watch' which I have no interest in and have never heard of. I live alone, no-one has access to my PC.
As an experiment I will now google 'ladies blouse' and see what that brings up, ( oh Matron ).
Edit: just about to change that to 'big girls blouse' and then realised it might set off alarms somewhere.

A lot of it is about putting you in a category; for example, older male with outdoor interests and disposable income. It isn't about your specific interests; it's about putting you into a category which is generally likely to purchase the goods advertized.

A few years ago I googled something like "Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro" and within a day or two several tour operators contacted me offering their services. These days my Firefox browser deletes all cookies so that if someones else used my computer they couldn't look at my browsing history (that could be embarrassing)

But I don't claim to be an expert.

No use complaining to the moderators - such things are chosen by algorithm by an advert supplier who has no connection with IPC beyond a sales contract. The adverts are chosen based on your previous browsing history; as others have said, if you don't want to see them, install an ad-blocker. However, an increasing number of sites detect ad blockers and deny access to the site unless you disable it!
IPC? It went to Time Inc years ago and is now Future?

Interesting I was banned from these forums for supposedly objectifying a woman. Yet the owners of this forum make money out of it.....go figure.
