Satellite phone service providers

I have an Iridium Satellite phone but am yet to sign up to an airtime or service provider. Any opinions or recommendations?

My usage will be for emergency use only.

Marconi has a very good reputation and seem very helpful. Would normally have been my choice. But I was able to cut a deal in the states where I don't have to pay the monthly fee while I'm not using it during off-season. The other advantage going via the states is that they charge your credit card from there and somehow you never pay VAT on that. Nice side effect.

This may sound silly, but I'm not sure I know. I checked around, and found that a compamy called AtlanticRT offers about any satphone there is, and at quite good price. At that time I was still flying twice a month to the states and I asked them to mail the phone to a friend so I could pick it up. Later they faxed my the contract, but it had a $50 activation charge on it and no word about suspending during the off-season. That was differnt than what we agreed on. So I thought that's it and I'll go with Marconi, who have been very responsive to my e-mail inquiries, but before I did, I phoned AtlanticRT and the simple answers was: "Oh, just change the contract and fax it back." I did and since then it seems to work. I got the monthly invoices via e-mail and they debited my credit card, so far exactly as agreed.
