Sardinia Summer 2015

Update
Early hours of the morning (0400) electric storm and 30 knot winds.
Really pleased with our new chain - held well.

This morning, we moved to Illetas - small bay north of Puerto Portals.
Tucked in behind small island.
Wind just gone North East as predicted so we are nicely sheltered ftom both swell and wind.
There doensn't seem to be anywhere else in the Baldricks this quiet at the moment.
Usually this bay is busy with day boats out of Palma but we had heavy rain thismorning which has kept tge day trippers away.
Actually, the rain was very welcome.
Armed with some fresh rain water and soap in bucket we washed JW down.
Really nice to walk round now without touching salty fittings and decks.

We are still with other Sant Carles boats.

Not sure what is next

LOL, waddumean?
Glorious weather will be back soon for some more cruising, snorkeling, spanish cava. And then, rinse and repeat, of course!
Glad to hear that the chain did its job and you've nicely gone through some bits of bad weather.
Our best rgds, also to M.

How are the replacement crew getting on :)?
Did you get your outboard and icemaker fixed?

Nobody will ever be as good as you, Pete:D Icemaker appears to be fixed but yet to test outboard

Another Update

We spent a few days in the Palma Nova area and the day before yesterday, some thunder storms/rain/squalls came through.
We upped anchor a and went backwards and forwards across the bay.
Lots of anchoring experience in extreme conditions - great fun.
Even anchored in Magaluf for a while - thats a first for us.

Then we moved into Club Nautico in Palma for a couple of days to regroup - fill with water - eat out etc.
We also had some friends on board who left us this morning - flying home.

SWMBO is just finishing the laundry - then it is off to Santa Ponsa to catch up with the Sant Carles yachtie team.

Our eldest son and daughter in law will be arriving in a week and then it will be the final leg back to Sant Carles.
It will be nice to be back home in SC but I'm not looking forward to the end of this fantastic cruise.

Mike, we were in Santa Ponsa today. Had v long lunch in Italian restaurant in the port (v good by the way). Passed by your boat to say hello about 7 pm but no-one around, and now on our way to Andraitx. Have a good trip back.

Sorry to have missed you, Nick
Shame, I wasn't looking out for you.
We were having drinks on one of the Lagoon cats.
There was a Princess we passed on the way in - must have been you.
There is a P61 that frequents Santa Ponsa - I must have thought it was that one.

Initially, we anchored very close to another Lagoon friend of ours - tgen re-anchored after the day trippers had left.
Here for the night now.
Will be staying in Santa Ponsa for tomorrow and probably a few more days - at least until the weather makes it good fir Es Trenc

Ok, I guess Hurricane is still out and about with no access to a decent connection, and he can't post his Baldricks pics yet.
So, since today I enjoyed a lovely sunset from a house on the NE tip of the island, which being surrounded by the sea is as close to a boat as a house can get, I thought that the following couple of pics would fit well with the rest of this thread...
...hoping also to bring back nice memories to Hurric (who knows the place), and help him forget the nightmare of a fast approaching RIB! :ambivalence:

I should add that a couple of hours later and just a few miles from where these glorious pics were taken, we were having dinner on our flybridge and we were all huddled up in fleeces and long trousers. Its been pretty chilly at night here these last few days thanks to a mistral wind which has been blowing here for the best part of a week:eek::eek:

Do you expect us to feel sorry for you?!:p Instead of being on the boat as planned for Dartmouth regatta week, we've been forced back home by the constant wind and rain, haven't seen the sun in over 3 days. Bloody weather!!:nonchalance::nonchalance:

Lightweight!

We are holed up in Santa Ponsa.
Not too bad inside the anchorage - sunny and hot.
But outside, there is supposed to be a 1m swell.
Wind is forecast to move westerly tomorrow and we think that it will be uncomfortable here in Santa Ponsa so we will probably move round to Palm Nova - again!
But not Magaluf!!

We are hoping that the weather may be good enough to have our last night in the Trenc.
Looks like our passage home will be next weekend.

Sorry - we seem to have missed you.

Yes - came round from Santa Ponsa this morning.

We took a few hours off boating this afternoon to watch the F1.
Then we went swimming.

We will be in this area for a few days - swell too big to go anywhere else really.
Probably be this side of Palma Nova until Wednesday.

No problem, we left at about 4pm to go and take the kids to play on the giant inflatable things that are moored in the swimming area, then we headed back round to port adriano. It was pretty rough once you got past the cala Figuera lighthouse. Got a bit of a soaking on the way back.

Wind looks like it will be with us for the next few days, looks like I will be swimming pool bound until it calms down, the crew were starting to mutiny on the way back today.

We were in and around Dartmouth all of last week and the weather did take a turn. I thought i has a shot of your boat but alas, it was smaller. Lots of pics though so if anyone was in the area i may have a photo of your boat.

Nice pics!

So we crossed back from caloforte to Mahon on Wednesday. Lumpy for the first hour and a half then flat seas. 192 miles. Took 8 hours and 2600 lts of diesel. Caloforte price 1.67 Mahon 1.32. More like it.

Met Mike f and Mapism in Caloforte. Mike lovely lunch on board thanks. Mapism Yourskills in finding a dentist for an 8 year old were fantastic !

Currently alcudia. Wind up here not bad but did get very breezy about 6 pm last night.

Summer nearly over !

Jrudge, we are also in Alcudia, on the outside quay against the sea wall. I think i can see you further inside the port. Will try and pop by to say hello later
