Euro signs must have been rolling in Giuseppe's eyes when he saw that one come in. She makes MYAG's boat look a bit small and Mapism's boat must look like its tender:D:D

Haha... But they all have the ketchup and HP bottle on the table...

It's when they jealously spot your bottle of HP sauce......

A full English breakfast wafting across the marina with HP on the table makes you then envy of everyone regardless of size.

Edited to say well done on the report Pete. Thanks for posting.

Hi Hurricane
Have just found some old photos re 'extreme anchoring'.:cool: I thought you might like to have a look. This was many years ago when a group of us went down to the Channel Isles and decided to spend a night in the Isle's de Chausey. We went down via the Beauchamp Channel and found what we decided was the perfect spot to overnight. Afraid the pictures are pretty rubbish but the 4 boats rafted, 2 dropped anchors and then 2 ran out stern lines to rocks. bear in mind that I think the tidal movement was about 9/10 mtrs !!!! The rafted photo shows the rocks in the foreground and the poor 'out of focus' shot shows the rock a few hours later. One of our 'team' did dive and check depth under us just to make certain. This was a magic night with the best show of stars / satellites and amazing phosphorescence in the water behind the dinghy's.

Hi Hurricane
Yes it is an old photo. Nick & T on S K Squadron 56, Targalout on Fightstar Targa 48, I had the F37 at that time and Paul the fish (Who was hunter/gatherer and diver :)) I can still remember Brill and Turbot that we BBQ'd ashore (when the tide went out). the ropes held very well and I can assure you that they were very well set. I also remember that the weather blew up a little about 4am, we all had a quick look/check and then back to bed. When we came back from the shore there was an amazing amount of phosphorescence in the water. a memorable night with a brilliant team of peeps.:):encouragement:

You were supposed to have a guess.
Based on the fact that the water in that part of Sardinia is so clear and the seabed always looks closer than it is, I reckon MYAG is in at least 5m of water. Having said that he plonked his anchor in about 2-3m of water in Spaggia Grande in an area that I had shied away from earlier because it looked so shallow. He's got bigger anchoring balls than me;);)

Lets see if MapisM can get his underwater pics to work.
Sorry M, 'fraid those pics you took of myself standing vertically holding the lower prop blades with raised arms turned out really poor.
Anyway, for the records, I would have sweared that by diving under the props I could have pushed the boat upwards, standing on the seabed.
It was instead a bit deeper, but not much. While hanging to the lower blades, I barely felt the bottom with one of my fins, while flipping them gently to stay in position.
Therefore, I would say that we had 2.5 m of water under the props, hence probably a hair above 4 from the w/line.
Talking of pics and clips, sorry, I must catch up a bit in posting them, will try to recover asap! :)

Finally catching up with this thread, very nice to meet you all in CF and special thanks to MapisM for showing us around without who we would never have found some of the stunning places we visited. Very nice report and pics Petem so thanks for posting, @lloydroberts good guess, iirc the instruments said 2.6m depth so plenty of room, @Hurricane we had exactly 140m out, approx 600kg that's how the stern line achieved the tension.

This was the cove we backed in to, the Leica showed a distance of 19m to the rock we lassoed. @Deleted User the answer to not getting caught out on anchoring distances isn't really the Leica (that's just a bit of geeky fun), its having shed loads of chain, you can then adjust as you please whilst going astern. 150M+ ought to do it.

Already looking forward to getting back out next week for a few days more boating in Sardinia and then pushing on to the Baldricks. :)

In case anyone missed the point.
The new forum name for the Balearic Islands is the BALDRICKS.
IMO it is much easier to say as well - I could never get my tongue around Balearics.
