Ok, the scoop on San Carlos is that it is a retirement haven for the typical greying population of Arizona. It is approx. 5 hours from the border of Mex and AZ. South of Tucson, which by the way is where I'm from. San Carlos is a resort type town near Guaymas in the Sea of Cortez, on the North West coast of Mexico. The Baja peninsula is just West of Guaymas. The town is very tourist friendly and from what I understand businesses are really starting to pop up. If it's up your alley jump in quick. Sonora, Mexicos only port. Mostly fishing and commerce.
