Sailmakers, eh!

I fully endorse everything said. I gained so much from your purchase as Peter Saunders was able to make an identical perfectly fitting suite 5 years later for a sistership. He was able to offer a substantial discount as he had no need to visit my boat for measurements. He could cut and sew from your details and CAD records.

The price was substantially lower than the same from Goacher.

Despite earlier observations by David I would never commission Boatshed unless Jonathan from JKH was actively involved and I had a watertight TIOTE penalty clause for contract delivery.

I should pick up on that with another shameless plug. Karisma’s measurements (for the CAD design we both benefited from) weren’t actually made by Saunders but by Andy Freemantle who is now at Marine Group htttps://themarinegroup.co.uk/marine-services/rigging/

Andy actually introduced me to Pete and made extensive measurements (as I understand it) far above the minimum spec required to cut new sails as the two collaborated on a complete refit of sails, running and handling gear for Karisma. I’m still reaping the rewards of a super working relationship between rigger and loft and I recommend them both.

no connection etc

Over the last four years I have had two new sails and a new Sprayhood from Suffolk Sails in Woodbridge, all delivered on time and made very well indeed.

Jonathan now runs Sails r me in Pwllheli.

Commissioned a new foresail last year. The brief was for a sail that would help the boat punch into heavy windward conditions and would retain good performnce when reefed down on the roller reefing. It came fully battened. ?

I’ve only ever had three new sails commissioned but I do recognise some truth in the OPs statement
On one sail I stood by and explained how to finish it ( ok it was a junk rig sail but they had built the original one years earlier ) late too but was a fine sail
Bestest experience, twice over was Arun
Fabulous spare mainsail , really fabulous cruising chute ( and some rather insightful hints as to my existing snuffer set up) and both delivered on budget on time and on quality . 100%??

Another tail.
( this is 40 years ago so things will have got better ?)
My oldest sailing chum commissioned a trisail and stormjib from a delightful local one man band , before we set off to new-to-us-all adventures across Biscay and places south..
Pestered, the storm jib was completed just in time -because we were so late in fitting out and leaving the uk - and we used it beautifully far too late in the season crossing biscay , successfully phew..

And the trisail?
Was delivered to Gibraltar in the new year
Unused, never to be used !
