I am looking for a sailing boat/dinghy that will double up as a tender for my boat. I want something that will perform well as a sail boat but that I can attatch an outboard to so I can get to my mooring. I reckon it needs to be between 12 - 18' although as long as it goes on a trailer easily the length is not that important. I would prefer something with a good classic line, just not sure what to search for. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds to me that you need a Tideway - a 12' sailing dinghy that can be rowed, sailed and used with an outboard. You can buy a new or used one in either wood or fibreglass (if you must). Get in touch with the Tideway Owners' Association; the secretary is Rev. Mary Davies, 70 Holland Street, Ebbw Vale, Gwent NP3 6HY, 01495 309964 and The Boathouse (they build the new ones) White House Farm, New Hall Lane, Mundon, Essex CM9 6PJ 01245 221514, www.tidewaydinghies.co.uk.

A small Drascombe of some description? Pleasing to the eye, trailerable and, I'm told, idiot proof (never tried one, so case unproven /forums/images/icons/wink.gif)

I have a mcnuly kielder classic gaff rigged dinghy. She is grp, simulated clinker, moulded from the classic longstone range, finished in white, with beige dacron sails. She comes with a snipe trailer, mariner 3.3, with little use, oars, anchor, buoyancy bags etc. LOA 12 ft, built about 10 yr ago, but only sailed maybe a dozen times. finished beautifully in mahogany and oak. Looking for about £2000.....
